Ian Hargreaves studied Technical Graphics for 2 years at Bournemouth Art College, before deciding that Fine Art was his natural outlet. After setting off across Europe to record his travels in watercolour, Ian Hargreaves love of Italy was born, with its light and shade, along with a deep and abiding love for all things Mediterranean. After years of drawing and painting portraits in London and Sicily, Ian Hargreaves moved to Germany in 1985.
Following a period of experimentation with various subjects and techniques, he once again discovered the delights of the south. At this time, Ian Hargreaves swapped his oil paints for acrylics, a medium which allowed him to make faster progress with his paintings. Of particular interest as subjects for Ian are urban landscapes, and people within that setting. After spending 23 years in Germany, Ian Hargreaves moved back to Poole, Dorset at the beginning of 2008.
